Sprinkla is a community project created by passionate individuals. There is no publishing empire behind us, and for our existence we need to thank our wonderful sponsors, and all the talented people who have given their time and energy with the intention of making a difference. Sprinkla is published by izm Media.
The Sprinkla Team
Meaghan Quinsee & Hiroshi Masuda
Co-Founders
Inspired by a desire to make a difference, Meaghan and Hiroshi decided to create Sprinkla, to spread the word on the wonderful people who live and work sustainably everyday. They felt that when people were equipped with the knowledge and tools for how to go about sustainability, they were inspired and eager to make a difference.
Olivia Davis
Editor
From her days as a volunteer at the Organic Food Coop at Melbourne University, Olivia has long held an interest in how to live lightly on our planet. But after a visit to Tokyo in 1990 she was so disheartened she entered a lengthy dark period of using plastic bags and not bothering to compost. However, after meeting Meaghan and beginning to research and write articles for Sprinkla, Olivia was thrilled to realise that there’s actually a lot of good news out there – from architects designing sustainable buildings, to communities setting up their own wind farms. Olivia’s many occupations have included waitress, performer, typist, au pair, film production coordinator, traveller, writer, proof reader, mother, PR executive and mediator. She has a diploma in professional writing and editing from Melbourne’s RMIT, and has published freelance travel articles in The Age.
Alan Turner
Contributing Editor
Alan has lived in Melbourne, Tokyo and Northern NSW. He has worked numerous jobs, studied environmental philosophy and psychology at university, then professional writing and editing at RMIT. Alan has been inspired by many people, and has a love-hate relationship with today's cities. He feels we are living through exciting times as we learn to live more sustainably. Many familiar beliefs and behaviours are ripe for transformation, and to see where this is true we need only take time along the road to examine routines that may be fixed merely by the business of our lifestyles. Alan hopes Sprinkla readers will enjoy the voices and experiences of others undertaking such journeys of rediscovery.
Penny Harrison
Deputy Editor
Penny grew up on a farm in central NSW and has since lived in Sydney and Melbourne. Two years ago she moved to 15 acres north of Melbourne, where she has developed an affinity with the surrounding bushland and a passion for sustainable gardening. She has been a journalist and sub-editor for 10 years, and has worked for publications such as the Sydney Morning Herald and Leader Newspapers. With a strong background in community newspapers, she is fascinated with the stories of individuals and their communities, and how they pursue their own vision of sustainability.
